The Internet of Things

Eric Schmidt, Google Chairman: “There will be so many IP addresses…so many devices, sensors, things that you are wearing, things that you are interacting with that you won’t even sense it. It will be part of your presence all the time. Imagine you walk into a room, and the room is dynamic. And with your permission and all of that, you are interacting with the things going on in the room."


Wow. As I am reading this, I am thinking back to the 1970s when it was unimaginable for me and just about anyone else to think some day we would be carrying one single device with us to make calls, search the Internet, take pictures and videos and share them on the spot with someone across the globe - instantaneously. Back then, I was still using pay phones (what is that?) to make maybe one or two calls per day. Pay phones are gone or being transformed for a different and interesting purpose.


And now, we are at the frontier of a new transformation. Just imagine this:
